No photos!

The reason in there being no photos of our work up on the blog as of yet is because we couldnt get them up here in time for monday. I emailed a couple of people for photos and they didnt send through for some reason! and there was not enough time to get them before the monday deadline. Mae did take some pictures on a film camera but they didnt come out unfortunately but she has the negatives for proof that we did take pictures of our work in the gallery space. I was greatful that other students were helpful and willing to send us photos but we have to respect that others are busy doing their own work and cant keep trying to send us the photos as they have limited time themselves and as do we with our other modules so this was another stepping stone in things that can and have gone wrong! Irl learn my lesson for next time and remember my camera!!! well done girls anyway, we all did fab! louise

Exhibition reflection

I feel that the exhibition on the 7th of May went really well....after some worrys of our work going up ok and in the limited time that we had but we finally got it up and looking good! thanks to everyone and well done for all of the hard work we put in.! We had some trouble with photos as me and suzzana forgot our cameras and Maes havent come out on hers! hopefully we can get some photos up on here from someone else! Our piece was called 'Cultural sandwich' where we layered up images hung from the ceiling, in front of the window, that all had a relation to ourselves and our culture. The light shone through our images creating a ray of different colours and images merged together and as you walked around our 'sandwich' the images began to break apart so you could see them seperatley. This really did reflect how we wanted our audience to see our view on culture and how we are all different and share different values but we all come together to create a beautiful, colourful and complete culture.

Next would be the stenciling and printing of our final piece! our Cultural Sandwich!
portrait of mae, Louise and Suzanna with some distressing effect like scratching! In my mind, i thought this example related to the state of part of the British Culture where some Brits from ethnic background are struggling to find one true identity and failing to choose exactly who they want to be!

I feel that, my self included I am pressured to define which culture I want to belong to! My personal thoughts are that my culture is humanity where ever that might be! I relate to all people and they in turn relate to me.

We look different but that is a good thing. Ethnicity is in colour as rich as the soils of planet earth. Like the seasons, so why are we so hung up on what colour we are?!! What if we were all in black/white?! Mae

This article deals with the immigrations of different nationalities bound by one faith- Islam- my faith (Mae) and how this is changing the future face of Britain.

Then we morph Suz's face onto the morphed image of Mae and louise. All this is achieved on photoshop. There are many ways to achieve face morphing on photoshop and other face morphing softwares. It all depends on the affect required.

According to statistics and the many studies carried out to determine the future of British society and one of the main areas of focus has been the changing gene pool through interracial conception. see example:http://www.haverhill2000.com/haverhill/pages/finmain.html

after layering the two faces, using the rectangle marquee tool to play with scale and then playing with the opacity by increasing and decreasing opacity.

Face morphing! In photoshop, one is able through a set of steps to morph two faces or more together! by adjusting scale, adjust tone, contrast, hue and saturation we are able to create the feeling of a new face by layering the images and playing with the opacity.

Here in the next few images, we are able to see how different filter also can transform the portrait of the morphed faces.
